NASA and the Australian Government partner up for a moon mission

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison is committed to the proliferation of the space industry. After investing more than $700 million in the space industry, the Australian government is spending $50 million more in a partnership with NASA.

This mission is part of the long term process of establishing a permanent colony on the moon.

The two groups intend on sending a rover to the Moon with the goal of extracting oxygen from the Lunar Soil. The Australian Government said this mission is part of the long term process of establishing a permanent colony on the moon.

In addition to the futuristic benefits, PM Morrison has made it clear that he believes the program will benefit Australia’s economy. In a media release, Morrison said, “By 2030, we want to triple the size of our space sector – adding $12 billion to our economy and creating up to 20,000 new, high-skilled jobs – providing more opportunities for Australians and industries.” As countries begin to realize the economic benefits of investing in the space sector, there is no predicting where the future holds for the fledgling industry.
