Moonshot Space Emerges from Stealth with $12M to Build Electromagnetic Orbital Launcher
Operating in stealth for more than 18 months, Israeli startup Moonshot Space has unveiled its plan to revolutionize orbital logistics and hypersonic testing using high-power electromagnetic propulsion. The company announced $12 million in total funding, led by Angular Ventures alongside a $1 million grant from the Israel Innovation Authority. Moonshot’s technology replaces traditional onboard chemical propellants with ground-based electromagnetic acceleration, claiming to increase orbital payload mass efficiency from standard 4% rocket margins up to 45%.
The venture is led by former Ministry of Science Director-General and Iron Dome development engineer Hilla Haddad Chmelnik, JFrog co-founder Fred Simon, Valerann co-founder Shahar Bahiri, and former David's Sling chief systems engineer Gil Eilam. Headquartered in Caesarea, the 32-person team is currently constructing its first launch accelerator for high-throughput hypersonic testing and orbital resupply missions.
