Ministry of Defense Successfully Integrates 'Iron Beam' Laser into Iron Dome Shield

Israel's Ministry of Defense announced on June 30 that its Missile Defense Organization, in collaboration with Rafael and the Air Force, completed a test series integrating the Iron Beam laser with the Iron Dome system. This integration allows commanders to use a 'mixed effector' strategy, choosing between costly interceptor missiles or nearly-free laser strikes depending on the threat and weather conditions.

The test series simulated rockets, cruise missiles, and drone swarms—the very threats that defined recent regional conflicts. Iron Beam, built by Rafael, is designed to neutralize threats at a fraction of the cost of traditional kinetic interceptors, addressing the economic imbalance of modern saturation warfare.
