Defense Minister Announces Development of Offensive Space-Based Laser Systems

Defense Minister Israel Katz announced on Monday that Israel is developing advanced space lasers to carry out attacks above the Earth. Speaking at a briefing, Katz stated that the country aims to become the global leader in this capability, recruiting top scientific talent to achieve a decisive military edge. He emphasized that space attack capabilities would strengthen Israel's deterrence against well-resourced adversaries.

The project builds upon Israel's existing leadership in laser technology, such as the ground-based Iron Beam system. While nations like Russia and China have previously tested anti-satellite weapons, Israel's focus is on integrating high-energy lasers into its orbital architecture for both defense and offensive operations.
